Socks or mitten?

Is this a pair of socks or a pair of mitten? Or could it be both?

What the fuss about? Well, being so tiny, little miss Elise could hardly have mittens in her hands! Almost every pair of the "pass me down" mittens and newly bought mittens fall off her hands. By right, that should not be a problem. Babies should be let "mitten-less" so as to enable them to explore better. Well, that's only the theory, when the finger nails are long and sharp, the adventure will be disastrous! Ok, ok, I'm exaggerating, but still Elise has been scratching her own face and even once poke her own eyes. Ouch!

Being her mummy, I have to think out of the box. And here is little Elise, wearing a pair of newly bought socks on her hands. Wouldn't you know it, they fit perfectly!

Prolonged Jaundice...

Oh no....Elise has prolonged jaundice! And she had to go through a painful procedure to collect blood for further test to be done. Also, collected a sample of urine.

Well, the results came back. NO urine infection and her prolonged jaundice is NOT due to liver problem. And she is gaining weight real good. Phew....thank you Lord!

Then what could it be? Doctor is suspecting breast milk jaundice and in order to confirm that, she advised that I stop breastfeeding for a few days (from Friday noon to Monday morning). Should the SB level drop from her Friday level of 270, then it is confirmed that it is breast milk jaundice and I can then continue my breastfeeding.

As much as I am reluctant to stop breastfeeding my child, Elise is not liking the formula milk feeding too. But we have no choice but to temporarily stop it. It's very emotional for me! I don't like the feeling! But I have to learn to cope with it for just a while more.

I need to continue pumping though, to make sure I have continue production of milk. I now have lots and lots of frozen EBM!

I will continue to trust in God!

Some recent photos of the big sister...

As I'm still not up to the mood to scrapbook, I'm just posting some recent photos of miss big sister, which will eventually make their way (maybe by crawling) to my scrapbook layouts.

See how she'd grown. She's no longer a baby, she's a little young lady whom, at this age, already know how to dress nicely.

Yay! Yay!

Let us put our hands together for the public speaking champion! Ahem.....again, a proud mother blogging today!

On June 25th, Grace's school held a round of public speaking competition, and my girl turn out to be in the first place. I'm so so so proud of her. And here's her trophy.

Also, enjoy the video clip!

Y-Shong Milk Produce....

I'd been an active breastfeeding mother ever since Grace was born. It started out tough and slow, but eventually we succeed into a sweet, intimate breastfeeding journey. The journey took about 3 years, it had only officially stopped when I found out that I was pregnant with my second one, last October. It has been a great experience for both mummy and Grace. And now, I'm engaging into another journey with little Elise.

Before Elise was born, Grace was determined to try some "mummy produced milk". She will remind me to please pump some and put into a cup for her. Even after my delivery, when she sees me breastfeed Elise at the hospital, she was determined that she will try some when I return home.

And so, on that one fine day when I returned home, Grace was all geared up to try on that "milk"! The outcome? Nah....she doesn't like it any more. But wait....mummy wants her to have the milk, so as to boost up her immune system. You see, ever since we stop breastfeeding last October and her attending school, she had been falling sick very often, sometimes as short as twice in a month! So, I had to add the milk secretly into her formula milk, plus some Milo and it turned out to be something that she loves! Yeah.....

Well, though I was breastfeeding actively with Grace, I was never the pumping type. The demand and supply seems to balance out nicely. But with little Elise, the supply is way way way, and I mean WAY too much as compared to the demand. So, I now have EBM enough for both my little girls. Hmmm.....I'm blessed!

When Grace meets Elise......

......there's love at first sight.

She loves and care for her dearly.....

And she adores her....

Grace has been a very good big sister. First, she behaves while mummy is away at the hospital recovering from her C-section. Then she helps be little Elise's guardian at home. She will notify us when Elise cry, poo, and even remind me to breastfeed her little sister. She will always stay close to Elise's cot, watch grand aunt bath Elise and even wanted to participate when we change and clean up Elise.

While little Elise recognize her sister's voice (the communication through the belly button really works!) when she sings to her. She will smile in contentment.

Here's some more shots of the sisters.......

Meet Elise Chee Jia Yue

As planned, Elise Chee Jia Yue, our second little princess, joined us one day after America's Independence Day on July 5th, 2010 at 9.28am. She weigh 2.76kg and her length at 49cm. Though she is relatively small as compared to her sister Grace, she is as healthy.

Both mother and daughter are doing well right now and had just came back to our home sweet home yesterday. Elise is having slight jaundice now, and hopefully her jaundice level will drop soon.

Well, enough of words and now the photos......

Counting down to meeting the second princess....

Well, oh well.....I opt for C-section this round. You can call me coward, but I want to be safe, don't want to get into higher risk of emergency C-section again this round. So, it has been set. I will be admitted this Monday morning at 6am and the C-section will be at 8am. Everyone (I mean my family members) will be there waiting for the arrival of the second one.

As for Grace, she's needing time to adjust to all these. She'd been rather emotional these past few days and I foresee that she will be even more emotional in the coming few days. Let's just give her time, support and love to adjust to this big change.

As for me, I'm not sleeping very well. The tummy is getting bigger and it's hard to sleep in any position. For the past week, I have had cough, runny nose, fever, indigestion, you name it.....I have it. So, it was no surprise that there's a slight drop in my weight.

However, the little one within me is having the opposite! Instead of not eating well, she's catching up real quick in her weight! When my doctor showed us her estimated weight chart, we were all amazed!

So, it is now time to sit back and relax until Monday comes.....and we shall meet Elise Chee Jia Yue (chinese name.... 钱佳约).
